Zipline fun

For my 34th birthday (my last year in my "early" thirties)I decided to zipline! The journey began with some penne rustica from Maccroni Grill and then off to zip through the air....or so we thought. We walked in ready to fly and they told us that we had to have on closed toe shoes.....grrrr Mumski and I of course had on flip flops. Duh....it's summer! So, we went to the outlet mall and found the cheapest shoes we could find. Notice our fancy shoes! ($14.95 buy on get one half) When we were leaving the parking lot heading back to zipline, a Dodge hemi rearended us....Dang it! We had to pull over, call the police and get all of that insurance stuff straighend out. Plus, it's Branson and so it took a while! By this time it was H-O-T hot mid afternoon and the sun was blazin!

We make it there and pay only to sit and wait 20 mins more for a guide to go with us.

I didn't take my camera (grrr) because I was afraid it would fall out of my pocket, but I did get a picture of the first tower.

We had to climb up the winding stairs to get to the first platform, where as you can see there are NO rails holding us in comfortably or keeping us from plumeting to the ground. Six of us plus two guides were standing up there. Yeah....kind of crowded. Up that high, you could feel the wind and it was swaying the tower just a bit. Ofcourse if you ask Jamie, we were swaying from side to side hanging on for dear life (he is afraid of heights you see)! He didn't like it up there at all so he was hanging on for dear life! Funny, they told us that "code inforcers" wouldn't let them have railing up there. Somehow all of the other towers had rails around them. Hmmm.....I think they just want to scare the bajeezus out of you. I guess trying to make it more exciting.....very nice. Falling to the ground wasn't a concern, it was the fact that the only brakes were your hands and how much pressure you put on the thick wire. They told us serveral times that if you went too fast you would slam into a steel pole and that the first zip was pretty darn fast. That was my fear....slamming into a pole! We all made it though....no slamming into poles or falling to the ground for us! Once we did the first zipline, the rest was a piece of cake awesome!!!!

I am sad that the brothers couldn't go with us, because they would have loved it 1000%! It was definitely worth every penny and would reccommend it to anyone needing a little adventure in their life.

Mumski and I in our cheap matching "fancy" shoes!! (If you can't tell we have big, gawdy, rhinestone bows on the top of our shoes) Cute, huh? I can loan them to anyone that needs a bit of fancy on their feet!

ps. There is a zipline opening over the Buffalo River soon and I plan to zip over some Arkansas water!! It will be a good time for anyone that wants to come with.
